In this section, we'll be posting
reviews of training programs, equipment, books, DVD's, supplements,
etc. so you'll always know what's good, what's garbage and what
is MUST-HAVE.
There are many effective ways to train
- some programs are more amenable to specific needs, temperaments,
and circumstances. I think it's helpful to expose yourself to various
philosophies and methods so you can gather the perspective and experience
needed to make discriminating choices in your training.
I'd also love to encourage you to
register on our online forum (http://www.TeamStaley.com)
- you'll find everyone super-helpful and you can even keep a training
log there if you'd like.
Every week in our PR Zone Newsletter
(sign-up box at the top right), we'll be putting out new reviews
of training products. If you have any request for products reviews,
please feel free to contact us at info@staleytraining.com!

TacFit
Commando
By
Scott
Sonnon
The
TacFit
Commando
program
is
essentially
a
"combat-oriented"
style
of
program.
The
exercises
and
movements
are
geared
towards
developing
the
fitness
and
performance
capabilities
of
those
who
need
to
to
be
ready
for
action
at
a
moments
notice
(police,
SWAT,
special
operations
soldiers,
firefighters,
etc.)
and
who
don't
often
have
gym

available
to

Final
Phase
Fat
Loss
By
John
Romaniello
It's
like
a
law
of
nature...the
leaner
you
get,
the
harder
it
is
to
get
leaner.
When
you've
got
a
lot
of
fat
to
lose,
it
comes
off
failry
readily...but
when
you
get
down
around
8
to
10%
bodyfat,
it
gets
TOUGH.
And
THAT
is
the
problem
John
Romaniello
is
primarily
addressing
in
his
new
fat
loss
program

Fat
Loss
Detour
By
Nia
Shanks
The
first
thing
that
I
really
like
about
this
book
is
Nia's
no
BS
approach
to
women's
training...it's
focused
on
challenging,
heavy
weight
training
and
NOT
light
weight,
high-rep
toning
nonsense.
Nia's
taken
a
really
good
approach
to
fat
loss
here,
putting
forward
information
that
is
practical
and
effective
for
achieving
the

By

Yep,
I
wasn't
quite
sure
what
to
make
of
the
name
of
this
book
when
I
first
saw
the
title,
too...But
then
I
started
reading
it...And
as
I
was
reading
it
I
realized,
this
is
a
whole
lot
more
than
just
a
nutrition
and
recipe
book...this
is
a
whole
new
way
of
thinking
about

how
you

obviously

a
HUGE
role...so
much
so

Empowered
Nutrition
Meal
Plans
By
Patrick
McGuire,
John
Barban,
and
Vince
DelMonte
Now
this
was
a
very
interesting
product
to
review...it's
not
a
training
program
and
it's
not
really
a
book,
per
se.
It's
basically
a
collection
of
professionally-designed
meal
plans
targeted
for
the
goal
of
losing
fat.
Now,
as
the
old
saying
goes
"you
can't
out-train
a
bad
diet."
The
aim
of
this
product
is
to
continue
that
phrase
with..."so
we'll

exactly
what
and
how
much
to
eat
so
you
don't
even
have
to
try"...

The
Ultimate
Guide
to
Massive
Arms
by
Charles
Staley
Review
by
Nick
Nilsson
I
have
to
say,
it's
pretty
easy
to
tell
what
this
book
is
about
after
reading
the
title!
You
guessed...building
massive
arms!
I
also
have
to
say,
if
building
massive
arems
is
your
goal,
this
book
is
a
MUST
HAVE
in
terms
of
effectiveness.
While
I
haven't
had
a
chance
yet
to
do
the
programs
myself,
having
been
training
for
almost
18
years,
I
can
tell
pretty
quickly
what
works
and
what
doesn't.
And
Escalating
Density
Training...the
guiding
principle
upon
which
this
book
is
based...definitely
WORKS.

let's

to
business...

a

I
figure
why

So
in
this

keeping
in

it
is

of THE
primary
reasons
people
get
into

Yet
in different

drastically
different
degrees

"bad

the most
often-cited

"Hyper

Mass Training"
by Doberman
Dan Gallapoo
We
review a
lot of muscle-building
programs
on the site
here...all
kinds of
different
theories
and approaches
to building
muscle.
The
bottom line
that we
look for
is results...is
the program
based on
sound training
principles
and is it
doable by
a "normal"
person?
Doberman
Dan Gallapoo

"Cheat

by Joel Marion
The
very title
of this book
I'm sure sends
shivers down
every dietician's
spine...
After
all, don't
you need to
keep a strict
diet to successfully
drop extra
fat? The REAL
answer to
that question
might just
surprise you.
Because, in
fact (and
this is backed
by VOLUMES
of scientific
research),
a strict diet
can actually
STOP your
progress if
you stick
to it too
long!
And
that's where
Joel Marion's
new fat-loss
program "Cheat
Your Way Thin"
comes in...

The
Burrito Diet
by Matt Lisk
In
some ways, I'm
an unlikely
candidate to
be writing a
review for The
Burrito Diet.
As anyone who
knows me will
tell you, I
never eat "Mexican
food" -
I'm a very bland
eater, and believe
it or not, even
catsup will
cause me to
break out into
a sweat!
Also,
I'm pretty knowledgeable
about fat-loss
and nutrition,
and as you might
surmise from
the title, The
Burrito Diet
isn't a book
for experts
in these fields.
Instead, it's
a book for novices-
people who are
overweight,
who've tried
everything,
and still haven't
managed to lose
the weight.

Girdiron
Strongman by Elliott

best out on the

You
need BRUTE STRENGTH...the
kind that will

back at the end

Hulse comes in...

The

that Todd takes a very "common-sense"
approach to training for six-pack

trainer, he'll tell you that

about training your abs into
oblivion...it's about dropping
the excess fat that covers
up the abdominal area.
But
it doesn't end there...learn
about the tricks and techniques
Todd uses to achieve success
with his clients every day

"The
Complete Video Guide to Escalating Density
Training"
By Charles Staley - Review by Nick Nilsson
The basic
concept of EDT is a relatively simple one.
It's density training, meaning you're attempting
(over the course of successive workouts)
to do more reps within a set time period,
gradually increasing the DENSITY of your
workload, i.e. if you do 40 reps in 15 minutes
then do 50 reps in 15 minutes the next week
with the same weight, you've increased your
training density.
Now, when
it comes to training, there are three key
things I look for in a program to tell me
if it's going to be effective or not. I'll
go through each step in the test, apply
it to Escalating Density Training then let
you know my thoughts on the product itself
and how it explains EDT...

"The
Truth About Six Pack Abs"
By Mike Geary
Six pack abs...not
too many people who who don't want a set of
those! Sure, everybody wants to be strong,
gain muscle, etc. But I can't imagine not
wanting to achieve those goals while still
keeping that coveted six pack.
Right off the
top, I can tell you that I like this book
and I like the approach Mike has taken with
it. When I started reading the first chapter,
the first thing that jumped out at me is that
this is NOT a book about abdominal
training.
Huh? "The
Truth About Six Pack Abs" isn't specifically
about abdominal training?...

title of this book pretty much says it all.

sticking points of fat loss, be they mental, physical,
nutritional or whatever.
The
"Metabolic Repair Manual" is all about
how to take a "broken", poorly-functioning
and essentially fix it! You're going to
learn what is slowing your metabolism down and
a step-by-step plan to take to address all those
reasons, one by one.

"Advanced
Mass Building"
By "The Muscle Nerd" Jeff Anderson
Right off the bat, let me
just say, the title of this book is dead on. The strategies
in Jeff's book are targeted for the more advanced lifter
(or the intermediate lifter looking to become advanced).
If you're in your first
year of training, these techniques aren't necessary in
order for you to get results. Learning proper exercise
technique and getting comfortable with a more basic training
program will get you excellent results.
But when you get PAST the
initial stages of training and move into intermediate
and advanced stages, THEN you need more advanced strategies.
THIS is where "Advanced
Mass Building" finds its home.

"Unstoppable
Fat Loss"
By Scott Tousignant
It's
all in your head
Let me clarify
successful
fat loss is NOT just a matter of getting your diet and your
training in order. There is PLENTY of effective information
both online and in print that lays it all out for you.
It's what you DO with
that information that counts and THAT is what is all in
your head.
There are so many people in
this world who know EXACTLY what they need to do to lose
fat, yet can't seem to find the motivation or the drive
to take that first step and do it...
